Default can i trade this in yet?

So I've had my x for about a month now and it was in the shop twice for about 9 days combined, still has a burning oil smell, still sometimes makes a howling noise from the rear brakes, a/c has started to work when it feels like it, and central locking is a crapshoot. I have a 95 Z-28 with 116K hard drag raced beaten miles on it that's more dependable and has less rattles(and the a/c still works). Next year, if it doesn't burst into flames by then, I'll be on the hunt for an 4-matic benz.

Why do you want that...you get a mercedes your asking for more problems...they are the worst luxury car for reliability and customer service...I think you got a lemon there buddy...did you check her out before you bought her? Take her back to the dealer and see if they'll help you out!

I test drove it. The oil smell was present as was to be fixed. They have tried twice and now want me to take it to the nearest Jag dealership( about 1 hr from me.) I will be dropping it off at the dealership i bought it from and telling them to deal with getting it to the Jag place, but that's here nor there. All the other items have been cropping up since I bought it. I've had it twice to the dealership for the howling. They put new pads and rotors on the back and it seemed to work, but twice now I've heard it briefly while cornering. The car probably just sucks and may not be an indicator of most of them, but it's not making me want to run out and buy another one. that is certain. But it looks nice. Reminds me of the movie gumball rally when the team with the Jag keeps trying to get it running while everyone else is racing and the one guy says to the other...it's a beautiful car... yup it's a beautiful car, I just wish it ran.LOL. Not trying to start a flame war or anything, just stating my experience thus far.

Take the car and shove it up in there where they can't see and go to a jag dealer and buy one!

That's bs is there any guarantee on a used car mandated by your state? Like a lemon law kind of thing? I'd go rage to a manager!

Dunno bout over there, but, over this side of the pond there's usually a minimum 30 day clause, or a 14 day cooling off period depending on what it is that you're buying.
However, goods must be fit for purpose!

Similar story over here just nowhere near quite as much Bo.
If you know what you're about with cars, there's a lot to be said for buying private or even from Ebay........there's some stunning examples to be seen. Even although you bid for them, when you turn up, if the car is not exactly as described, you have an out!
There was a superb 3.0 X type that had almost every Arden extra available for sale at an absolute bargain.
As you say, the only benefit you get buying from the dealer is a little safety net re problems for a short while.

Yeah there is never a guarantee down here from dealers at least in Michigan...what you see that day is what you get...if for some reason you missed something the dealership not wanting to be a-holes is what determines whether they want to help you out or not!

Jeez.......thats bad ****!
Then again.........customer focus and customer orientated Dealers surely win more business?
If you buy a lemon from one dealer and get nuthin but problems and zero backup from them, you're not gonna go back there EVER and you're gonna tell as many people as you can not to go there either......so I can't see how its good for business?

For sure and most will come out and say we want repeat business...if they didn't want you to come back and buy again they'd treat you like a piece of meat!

Thats why we gotta shop around bro.
When I was thinkin about buyin the A6 I went to 2 dealers, one in Glasgow and one in Stirling, about 30 miles apart.
Told the guys the same thing, what I was lookin for, how much I wanted to spend etc etc.
The one in glasgow took some details, we had a chat, he offered me £7500 on the Saab and didn't really offer that much at all.
At Stirling.....a totally different story, with the same info remember.
The guys were soo helpful I was there for about 4 hours. They offered £2000 more on the Saab.........offered a fully loaded A6 a week old which was considered used, but essentially new and had nearly every option on it. Threw in 2 years free servicing, car mats, front n rear mud flaps, boot liner and 6 months tax + a full valet on the vehicle ( not that it really needed it) and discounted her too.
They came to me with a monthly figure and I said lose £30 a month and I'd go for it. The salesman went to his manager and came back having dropped £35 a month. I bought the car there n then.
What a difference between the 2 dealerships, even in service n parts as I have made myself know to both of them.
Like night n day!

let the jag dealer look at it. or trade it for a benz. option 2 would be the best or you may as well set fire to the cash in your wallet. the x-type should have never had the jag emblem put on it.
