Default Can you program the alarm to not honk?

Hi all,

Quick question regarding my 2005 X-Type. When I click the remote twice to enable the alarm, the car honks. Is there any way to program the system to flash the corner lights instead? It's annoying when I get home late and have to worry about waking up the neighbors.

I know a lot of aftermarket alarm systems let you program flashing lights or a chirp to confirm that the system's armed. Just wondering if the X-Type has a similar option. Thanks in advance for any insight.

i have a 2001 x type and when you arm the alarm the lights flash and the horn does not sound, however the horn will sound twice if there is aproblem for instance if you have left a window open or one of the doors is not closed properly or if the boot lid isnt closed properly.therefore i would check it all out first.good luck

alarm always arms on the first lock, twice is just a horn feature. and yes park lights do flash not the corner lights

Thanks Jagtech. It's great to know that the alarm is armed on the first press. I always thought you had to press it twice - once to lock the doors, and the second time to arm the alarm system...just figured that's why the car honked on the second press.

By the way, what's the point of the "horn feature"? Seems pretty useless if the alarm is already armed after the first press, doesn't it?

On my car (2005 3.0), the park lights flash when I disarm the car and unlock the doors, but they don't flash when I turn the alarm on. Do you know if that's a programmable setting? I'd like to have the lights flash both when the system is armed and disarmed.

I use the horn feature sometimes in the morning when I get to work. Sometimes I cant remember if I locked my car so I will press the button twice while I am going up the stairs, the car is out of sight so the horn tells me the car got the signal and it is locked.

Did you never bother to check if the little red flashing light was flashing?
That is a pretty good indication of the alarm being armed.

As far as the honk, I consider it to be a message from the car to the driver - Saying "stop pressing the damn button you dumb ***!"

I do sometimes press twice to check if I locked the car when I cant hear the sound of the door locks struggling when they are fired when already loced.
