I would like access as well.

That said, why does this forum do this when others do not? I'm sure many people who don't learn this "secret" try the forum a few times and then give up because they think it doesn't work.

I guess another way to do this is to make 10 useless posts, but all that will do is plug the forum with junk posts.

i find the 10 post rule kinda silly.

yes it eliminates lurkers who just wanna lurk the pages.....but it also creates post-******...that turn into lurkers lol

I had gleaned that you had to make some post before you could have full access but had never seen what the number was until now.

Hey new guys, no need to bash the admin policies, we've been here for years, you've been around for days...it works, and until something better comes along that is more effective, it will remain in place.

Please read the new member sticky in my sig line for more details guys. thanks for understanding.

Your response is a bit arrogant, but lets ignore that for a moment. When I signed on to the forum I never saw the information in your personal sticky, so if you’re going to use such a policy at least tell new members about it when they sign on. Put that info in the new member e-mail. Also, when we try to look at a picture all we get is a stock message that doesn’t even have an admin link on it.

Tony, not trying to be arrogant by any means, but all you're doing is stirring the you proverbial 'pot'. This is how this forum operates.

It's not a personal sticky, it's a link in my signature to try to get more people exposed to the thread that just happens to be right there, at the top of the New Member forums. This next statement may sound critical (but here goes), if you would have gone to the new member area after joining to start your own 'intro' thread or to see what this specific section of the forum may offer 'new' members, more than likely you would have seen it.

We've just started exploring the link to this sticky thread in our registration emails. It will definitely help get people to the area where they can read it more easily.

But, just as the new 'legit' members can be assisted by this link to our restrictions, the spammers will also easily find this information, and as such, could post 10x and begin the spamming through the forum threads/posts AND personal messaging that you were not around during this time. Trust me, this small, hopefully temporary, inconvenience is worth it. So, we must be cautious.

h20boy, FYI I never went to the "New Member Area" because I have an X-Type so I found the X-Type forum on Google and registered. I've never looked anywhere else because I don't need to. If you want new members to see that sticky you have to put in the forum and not two levels up.

Default Good Idea

I think it keeps away some casual people and kids that just like to surf sites like this.
