Car stalled, Engine light came on, rattling noise when accelerating

Car stalled, Engine light came on, rattling noise when accelerating

I was idling in park when my car just stalled and the engine light came on. I tried to restart it multiple time but it wouldn't crank over. I waited a min or so and finally got it to crank over. The engine light continued to blink 5 or 6 times every minute on my way over to a Jaguar specialists place. Also, when I accelerated, I could hear a rattling sound from under the front of the car. Once I got off the freeway the light went off and when I got to the shop the car started up twice fine but the engine light was still on. 2004 x-type 3.0, Car has 53000 miles on it and I just bought it a month or so ago.

Any suggestions on what I could be looking at here? Thanks

Wilson, if you could, have the codes read and post them here. Should be something along the lines of PXXXX (where XXXX is 4 numbers). That will help us get to the root of what is going on in a short period.

As for the rattling sound, did it sound like 2 wrenches being hit together, someone taking a rubber mallet to the side of the car, etc. This should also help us narrow things down some. "A rattle" is a little vague.
