Default Car will not Start: Gearbox Fault

This is wierd, I let my friend use the Jag (2002 X-Type 3.0) to drive to the store, fine no problems. She drove it back home, unload groceries, then tried to start the car and nothing. No clickity click nothing, except the message "Gearbox Fault". When I tried it, I noticed that the stearing wheel was not locked and I cannot shift out of park. I don't think it's a failure (I hope) I think something just needs to be reset but I don't know what. Any ideas?

On another note, I'm flying to Flordia tomorrow to pick up my next Jag, a 2002 XKR with only 34k miles. I know, but I'm only happy when I'm in pain!

Check your battery...I got the gearbox fault when my battery discharged.

That crossed my mind; I'll check it when I get back with my XKR.

Now that the sun is up, I checked a little closer and believe that the issue is the battery. The headlights come on but are so dim you can barely tell and the inside lights are very dim. I have a friend comming over an we will try to jump the car. I'll let you all know how I make out.

Just to close the loop, it was the battery. The Texas heat caused the battery to nearly explode; it was all buldged out. I just jumped it, went to AutoZone, put a new battery in and everything is fine. Jags really want a good battery otherwise the get very persnickity!
