Cool Cause of coolant loss established

Got my X type back from the mechanics, who showed me the old coolant reservoir that had hairline cracks along the bottom edges. With a new coolant reservoir fitted the coolant loss issue is resolved. I must say I am very happy with this mechanic's work, he does a good job at a good rate $140AUD / hour labour.

In this session he did 4 things which took 9 hours labour - 1 Refurbished the bushes and shocks in the rear end (6 hours labour), 2 changed coolant and coolant reservoir, 3 flush brake fluid, and 4 flush power steering fluid (3 hours labour to do these last 3 things).
Total bill was just under $4000AUD of which $360 was goods and services tax and about $1300 was labour, the balance was cost of parts. Overall I am very happy with the bill and the work done,
It would have been considerably more expensive if I had this done by the dealership - last thing I had them do was change the water pump which cost $3500AUD for this just one thing!

Default Coolant Tank

That was pretty high for coolant tank replacement. The tanks are available through Amazon for about $35US, and for me, about 20 minutes to remove and replace.

I wouldn't trust the quality of an amazon coolant tank replacement. Mine was sourced through a German manufacturer (can't remember the name) so I should be confident it is of good quality.

The Amazon tank has been perfect for over a year now. It is listed as OEM with the same Jaguar part number. Just saying.
