There is a cross bar/plate below the plastic guard under the engine - do you need to remove this one each oil change (in order to get the plastic tray out of the way), or is there a simpler way?
Where do you get the rubber grommets for the drain plug from?
I happened to have some O rings that fit in the oil drain plug (the one with the hollow collar), however I prefer copper crush rings. Will change the plug next time for one with a flat collar. Not too sure about this setup.
Also, the oil filter came with a large O-ring, however the part where the filter housing screws into does not seem to be made to accept an O ring. I'll have to keep an eye on it for leaks. I am not particularly fond of filter housings, I prefer screw-on filters. cleaner and easier. Will see how it goes.
I'm in the U.S. So not much help on diesel and European. I bought a new drain plug from a local national chain auto parts store. BUT..... here is the kicker. I use the shop on the local Air Force Base to do my work. Did the drain, and when I went to use the new plug, it was the wrong size. Thankfully, the shop manager had one that fit and I seem to recall it was a rubber seal built into the plug (not removable).
Took the other one back for return and he checked it again when I told him what had happened. It still showed in the system to be correct one and size. So *shrugs*.
As for the filter, the gas/petrol U.S. Jag does use a screw on oil filter with a built in rubber seal that you oil before screwing back on. So no help there.
