Default Check engine light

Hey everyone....I have owned my 04 xtype for about a wk and 1/2 and today pops up my check eng lt comes on. Had diagn. run at adv. auto where they told me abt one code(involving bank end sensor) and another one #d p1000 which was jaguar specific and their tester couldn't give a read...anybody knoe what the code p1000 means for jags(prob all bt just in case, specifically jag xtype) thanks alot!

It hasn't finished a complete diagnostic, drive it for a couple days and it should go away. It will be replace by I think p1100 which means diagnostics complete.

The best route to advise is to post the P-code number that was found and then we can direct you to what the problem is. The P1000 indicates that all of the system monitors are incomplete for testing as good. P1100 is the code you always want to see systems monitors are all good. You want get P1100 until whatever code you have is resolved.

What is probably happening is you have an intermittent issue, like a vaccum leak or a misfire. It will trigger the check engine light and a code will be logged. If the issue is not present for a certain amount of drive cycles the check engine light will turn off. Until it does it will show the P1000 code. Once the check engine light would go out you would see the P1100 code. Post that PXXXX code or do a search on here of it and that will point you in teh right direction on how to address it.

You want to have P1111 - not P1100 and not P1000

You can (and usually do) have P1111 even with other codes (and then you chase those other codes).

Yes, you are correct. I mis-typed that.
