Default Checking oil pressure?

Do I have to remove the oil pressure switch to check the pressure or is there another area I can tap into? I replaced the switch and all is well, but my curiosity got the best of me so I need to know now.

You could try fitting an oil pressure gauge but where to put it. Its a Jag so the ECU takes care of reading the pressure and advises you if it drops.

I don't want a permanent gauge, just curious if there was a tap somewhere other than behind the ac compressor. I know a lot of other brands of vehicles have multiple areas to test oil pressure on the engine block. They usually have hex plugs in a few different spots.

Then I am sorry, I do not know of any other points. Perhaps someone else will come up with a solution.

You could mount a "sandwich spacer" between oil filter and engine block that's tapped for fitting an oil pressure gauge feed. Search internet and you'll see plenty of vendors. It's a common method for hot rodders who want an oil pressure gauge on the dashboard. For your question though I don't think it'd be worth it. It sounds like changing the pressure switch solved your problem.

I did a little bit of research on 2.5L Duratec motors from Cougar, Contour, and Mondeo. All of them require adapting to the oil cooler by sandwich adapter or tapping into the oil switch. What a nightmare. At least my oil light warning was just a switch fault and replacement fixed it. AC compressor removal and it is a 13/16" socket that was 3/8" drive. I used the spark plug socket that comes with a hex shape so you can wrench the socket as the ratchet cannot fit into it.
