i have an x-type 2001 sport auto,when i release the clutch/break a click noise comes from the gear stick....if i put my hand on the "j gate" i can actually feel it click...does anyone know what this is?????????/

 

Brake lock...If you have an auto transmission, there can't be a clutch pedal...

There is a locking solenoid that locks the gear shifter in Park until you press on the Brake first..that is what you are hearing after you let off the brake pedal.
