Default Clutch

I was driving along with my buddie and brother at freeway speeds. Car ran fine all day. When i got off highway i couldn't go into lower gear, not without rev matching. When the car is at a stop and i engage clutch i can shift thru all gears fine, but when i start moving engaging next gear is next to impossible like you are trying to shift with no clutch but revs drop. Unless you go into higher revs then it sticks and will not dis engage even with foot pressing pedal all the way down. My theory is that the pressure plate failed and i need to get a clutch kit. What you guys think and if this is true where can i get a clutch for my 05 x type for a good price?

The week link is the release bearing. It goes down first and then quickly afterwards the clutch disc is gone too.

Anyway - you can buy an original clutch set (except the flywheel) - it does not cost too much. And you better to do it ASAP as finally you find you car not moving anywhere. And keep in mind that according to the JTIS it's a 13 hours job to replace the clutch...yep. it's a pain in the ***.

And it's might be a good idea to flush the fluids in the transfer case and the gearbox during the clutch replacement.

Cheers

I have a minor point of disagreement regarding the release bearing being a weak point, but on a practical level, it doesn't matter because the parts and labor will be the same. On my car, the clutch disk itself failed. See this thread:
