Default Collapsed hose

Took a 2 hour+ drive yesterday and noticed a couple hours after I got home this hose was flat. Never noticed it before so I don't know if that just happened or if it's always been like that.

Does anyone know what hose this is? I checked all of the other coolant lines, and none of the other hoses looked like this. The car doesn't overheat. The temp gauge never goes beyond the half way mark.

Anyone? Is there a name for this hose? I think I'll order a new one.

ANy reason it would do that? I did replace the coolant takn about a month ago or so. No problems since then.

oldpunk, I bet you ran the car for awhile with the cap off of the expansion tank and then replaced the tank cap with the system hot when you replaced the expansion tank. What you need to do to fix this issue is to let the motor cool off and then remove the expansion tank cap. Let the vacuum be relieved and then reinstall the cap.

What has happened is you had a steam bubble (of sorts) filling the top of the overflow bottle when the car was at temp and had the cap off. Then, when you installed the cap, you trapped the steam inside the tank. As the car cools, the steam condenses and draws a vacuum on the coolant system. that is what is sucking in the hoses.

Hope this fixes your issues and puts you in a peace of mind.
