Hello everyone!

i purchased this Alpine unit

its going to ship in20 days or so, so I need to start getting everything I need together .

And after a lot of searching it's pretty clear I will need a new amp since I can't use the existing one because of the fiber optics . What I would like to do is use the power source for the stock amp and just swap it out....All i want to do is just splice in the connector for the new amp on the existing wiring. Match power, ground and speaker wires and go. I have called Alpine and Crutchfield and they are not sure what type of Alpine amp is in the X type. Does anyone a comparable Alpine unit?

There are no aftermarket amplifiers which run on the D2B fibre optic network.

If you go to an aftermarket amplifier you need something with speaker-level inputs, and will need to run wiring directly from the speaker outputs of the head unit, not the wiring in the boot/trunk where the factory amplifier is located. Like what's in the first link above.

A used amp from an X-Type, S-Type or X350 XJ will also work fine as a replacement of the factory amp.

All the speaker wires are connected to the existing stock amp on the back and those wires are not fiber optic, as far as I know....I am wanting to connect them to the new amp. I would also want to power the new amp with the power source that powers the stock amp. I know the current amp powers all the speakers and the subs from looking at the wiring diagrams. I am looking for a new amp that resembles the stock amp as much as possible.

Can anyone tell me if he 40W x 8 is the "peak" on the stock amp?

What I am trying to do here is connect an aftermarket amp. I have a new head unit and I can't use the stock amp any more

according to the wiring diagram the existing amp has two battery connection and two ground connections going into it. I will use those same ones to power the aftermarket amp.


The stock amp has 8 dedicated output channels for the speakers and 2 for each sub. All the wires are already there. Those are not fiber optic wires. I am just trying to figure out how to connect those wires to a 5 Chanel system.

I ended up getting a Kenwood 5 Channel amp .
Its specifications are
