Default Coolant Reservoir question

So I just replaced all of the hoses and o-rings causing my vacuum leaks. My next project is to replace the leaky coolant reservoir.

Does anyone have any advice for me or is it fairly straight forward? I tried doing a search but didn't really come up with any directions.

Thanks!
Adam

Hi Adam

It is a straight forward job.

Remove the large hose connected to the bottom of the reservoir followed by the two small hoses on the top. Then undo the single bolt on the front mounting bracket and twist the reservoir to release it from the rear bracket and the bracket on top of the strut mount. Refitting is a reverse of the procedure. The only slightly tricky bit on refitting is getting the top bracket and rear bracket lined up at the same time so you can twist the reservoir back into place but that is more slightly awkward than difficult.

Regards.

Steve

This may be a stupid question and I admit I haven't looked yet but where is the drain for the cooling system? What kind of Antifreeze is recommended?

Thanks again!

Look for a square hole in the plastic covered metal brace under the radiator on passenger side. The drain fitting is in the lower radiator hose fitting You will see a black plastic plug with a flat screw driver slot. Watch out when loosening the plug or you will get a face full of coolant(brilliant engineering). I made up a fitting of my own using a nylon connector a piece of clear plastic hose with a brass wing type drain plug so I don't have to mess with that original plug anymore.
