Default Cruise Control Problem

Just bought a 2003 x-type and tried to use the cruise control and had a strange problem. Shortly after I turn on the cruise control the red "I" light on the dash comes on and the car looses power and occasionally bucks badly. turning off the cruise control doesn't help. If I shut the car off the problem resolves itself after being turned back on. I haven't turned on the cruise control since.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Brad

Haha that is weird... the cruise control on these cars is electronic for what I see. I would first check for any Codes on the computer and go from there. But my educated guess is that one of the microswitches either on the hand brake, brake pedal, or anything that the systems software is designed to look at is stuck. I'm a jag mechanic and personally what I would do is plug in the factory tool and look at all the switches that are on or off and see something that shouldnt be there. What you can do is make sure there isn't anything where one of these switches would be, like a coin, a little piece of paper, etc. Hope this helps
