Default Cruise control stays on

Jaguar X Se D 2ltr. 2004. In UK

Had this a few month but know little about them .

The cruise control seems to be staying on and I have to keep cancelling it almost every time I move. I don't remember it being like that before. Has anyone had that or know how I can stop this. I don't need the cruise control at Al as I only drive local and it's all stop start traffic. Any tips or hints appreciated for a newbie.

Jaymo, sounds like the SET button on the steering wheel is stuck slightly depressed and it is causing the cruise to engage.

Chris thnks for that tip. Any idea how I could solve that. Is it as simple as a spray of WD40 or has steering panel got to come of. Any advice appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend WD-40 as you will probably gum it up more. Find a can of Electrical Contact Cleaner. It is available at most auto parts stores. I would spray it down lightly and exercise it on and off a few times.
If that doesn't work out for you the switch is probably defective and will need to be replaced.

Thanks Vern, I will give that a try next week when I'm off work.
