Thanks to all the info here to do with the step motor problem for the defrost blowers. I seem to have a double problem. In other threads I read of a smell like burning plastic. I had this when I put the defroster on, and then the red ignition light came on when I put the blower on full. I turned it all off and after a few minutes the light went off. When I got home though the battery was dead although the charging light went out. After a jump start and about 30 mins engine running, I put everything electrical on I could find, heated seats , blowers the lot. No red light, engine off, started again no problem? 4 weeks later, battery dead again. I dont think the x type has electrical defrosters does it? No air coming through sounds like the step motor from what I've read. It's a lhd 2,2 diesel from 2007. Any ideas?
