Recently bought a 05 x type that had a bad transfer case already taken out... bought a new used TC... installed it... turned the car on... put the transmission into drive and nothing happen. It didn't budge... into reverse and other speeds... same...nothing happened... did I not connect something or did some cable etc needed to be connected to the transmission... OR DID THE CAR ALSO HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION TO START WITH... YOU OPINIONS ARE WELCOMED...

 

Since you don't know what the previous owner did. Have you checked the transmission fluid level? I have attached the procedure.
It has been awhile but I think I remember a seal that can go bad with the transfer case and dump the transmission.
If you have the axles and transfer case all back in place I can't think of anything you might have done wrong. If reassembled and you had noises, leaks and bad performance then I would say you might have done something wrong.
