Default X Type 2.5 auto 2001 ENGLAND

Hi
I've got a low mileage X type 2001. Driven for 6 months like a dream, now I'm getting an Amber warning light with notification "Cruise control unavailable". More important is the car goes into idle mode at 30mph. Had the RAC look at it, No joy! had a diagnostic and although nothing major it did show PO171/PO174. Any member out there car to give me excellent input before Mr Mechanic has some of my money. I'm disabled and find it hard to either get in the engine or underneath

It could be an easy fix. I wouldn't go to a mechanic yet. lot's on here should be able to help with the codes. If you've got time on your hands, scour these boards there are lots of people who will be able to help, I'm sure.

Have a look at these two links; they may point you in the right direction.

What the Car Guru did not say was that Jaguar redesigned this hose to eliminate the problem. The redesigned hose is ribbed and reinforced, not smooth. Any owner can replace the hose in 5 minutes.

Default A little help please

Hi
Many thanks for you help before. I am going to attempt a visual inspection when the weather stops raining. I looked at the suggestions you provided and I am going to try and find a air leak. Unfortunately due to having a company car for many years I have never really "Messed" with an engine, would it be possible to show or explain where is the Brake Booster hose / inlet manifold / vacuum pump? I would be very grateful.

Take a look @ the pics in my post here, it shows them all. The brake booster continues from my pic toward the right (u.s. Driver's side) connecting into the large round black thing (brake booster).

i have received those codes before. In fact I just bought a 2005 Xtype to add to keep my two 2003 xtypes company. The new 2005 also gave that code. I have found that it is always a good idea to replace all the gaskets on the intake manifold. If you are mechanically inclined you can do this fairly inexpensively. At least in the US. It cost me just over $40 US for both the upper and lower gasket sets and takes me about 1.5 to 2 hours to do. Replace, clear the codes and then enjoy the drive.

Does anyone have a detailed instruction in text or video showing how to remove the intake manifold on a 2 L x type. Thanks in advance

I have codes p 0301,0303 and 0305 which are misfires on 1, 3 and 5. I also have a p1313 which says catalyst damage fault bank A. Flashing CEL and solid orange light comes on the dash with the bucking engine at between 2000 and 3000 revs and cruise not available. Recently when braking at low speed it shudders. Is this likely to be connected with the above codes or do I have a problem with the brakes as well. The car has just passed an ITV which is is the Spanish equivalent to the MOT (UK). Can't drive it until it's fixed. Help please.

Here is a video for the intake manifold. You as for the other codes you are receiving for misfires, I would check your compression first. If you do not have good compression in those cylinders you may have a blown engine. If you have good compression you may just have a bad coil set and spark plugs. I know the blown engine is not what you want to hear, but I would check compression first before I start throwing money into an engine that is not worth it.

And as for your catalytic converter code, it's BECAUSE you drive it with a FLASHING MIL light. That tells you that you're damaging your cats & the car is most likely going into limp mode. That's why Jaguar says DO NOT DRIVE WITH FLASHING MIL!
