Hi Its time to change my Volvo d5 and I fancy a x type jag its got to be a diesel cos we do lots of miles Volvo now has almost 200000 last one had over 200000 they both had faults but what car doesn't ! so I was wondering which diesel to go for the 2.0 or the 2.2 which one is the most reliable ive been told they are ford engines so would imagine servicing and parts are reasonable not like the Volvos any advice would be appreciated

 

Personally I went for the 2.2 but the deciding factor was that this came with the 6 speed manual gearbox, the 2.0 only has a 5 speed box, the engines are based on the Ford engines but are not identical, also in my experience sometimes the common parts are cheaper from Jag the Ford, the EGR valve being one of these which is a common fault on both engines. I can't comment on which is more reliable only that I've done 40,000 miles in 3 years and only had a problem with the EGR valve.
