differential issue
ok fellas...new issue !!!
i was driving down highway today at about 65 and started to smell a strange burning rubber/oil type of smell...i pulled over and the bottom of my rear end was cdovered in oil and was smoking...then i drove it tem miles home nice and slow as i could go and i started to hear a quit but consistent hum type of noise comming from the rear end...i took about ten pics oh the underside of my car..i dint see anywhere at all where it could be leaking fluid..i dont understand where this oil os comming from,,..maybe someone on here can see something in these pics that im missing

Can't tell for sure but seems a lot like it's coming from pinion shaft. You should add some oil, clean as much dirt off as you can and go for a ride and check from time to time if you notice where it's leaking from. If it's from pinion shaft then this seal costs £12.21.

You could use 3/8" drive socket to undo that plug and use oil syringe (or what ever you call it in english) to add some oil, so when looking for a leak your diff won't run out of oil. Edit: Or if you don't have one of these then could use a soap pump with larger round nozzle and attach a hose to that and pump oil in.

Daniel, based on the pics, I I have to agree with 3lvis in that your pinion shaft seal is toast and what you are hearing is either the pinion bearing starting to die or you have damaged your rear differential and you have excessive wear on your ring and pinion.
You can try putting more oil into the differential, but I would say that you truely need to get the cover off of the differential and take a look at the teeth on the ring and pinion. It will be obvious if you have a destroyed ring and pinion (teeth will look fairly rough and you will most likely see a lot of metal shavings in the bottom of the differential). Another thing you can try checking is putting your hands on the driveshaft and try moving it up/down and/or side to side. If you can see movement, then your pinion bearing is toast and MUST!!!!! be replaced. But, if this is the case, then odds are, your ring and pinion is hurt too. So, you might find a good rear differential to put in there as it will probably be cheaper than trying to get your current differential rebuilt.
A humming noise from the rear differential normally means you have a bearing that is shot and/or improper gap between your ring and pinion.
