It's supposed to be a 'sealed unit'. But under the battery on the left side there is a small rubber plug, then on the left side under where the linkage hooks in there is a recessed allen bolt. Undo the allen bolt and fill till the fluid comes out the level hole.

I think there is a drain hole under the tranny too. Jag usually drops the pan to check the magnet and change the fluid.

Per the JTIS, you are supposed to check the fluid level with the motor running for reference. Car in PARK, engine running, sitting level. Then when you go to add fluid, you should have the engine off and the level checking plug installed. Not sure how much the level changes with the motor running and not.

Engine must be running while in park at about 104 degrees F fluid temp, to check fluid level.

Maybe if Jag made the tranny in the X Type they would have but it is made by JATCO--Japanese Automatic Transmission Company--not to metion the whole car is pretty much a FORD anyway! Just a "Gussied Up" Taurus--as one guy I know called it!
