Default DIY wheel Bearing test

I was having awful front end noise, was sure it was a wheel bearing or cv, remember reading a thread about alignment, and that it may not show in steering wheel, well this weekend I had had the steering wheel turned and by chance when washing saw the inside drivers side tire, cupped and scored.

Prior to seeing that I was ready to order bearings, but instead I took the air pressure up to 40 lbs and drove it for 20 miles, the noise was cut in half, this weekend will take to 50 lbs of air. I know it is tires I just want to be sure.

Thought I would share this simple quick test, though not 100% it does start one in the proper direction.
