Diy wheel bearings
Has anyone done the front wheel bearings themselves
Car is an 06 x-type
I showed up at my mechanic ( buddy who does work in his shop with me afterhours ) with the bearing and when we pulled the alldata info it stated that a couple special tools were needed
The dealer qouted me 2 hours labor x$120 per hour to get it in using the jag part i supply
Question i am faced with is , do i get the special tools and do it myself. ? I prefer to do my own work as it is my hobby , but if that bearing is a pita AND the tools are expensive it may be best to get it to the dealer

No special Jag tools required,
I managed to do mine on the driveway.
I removed the hub and took it to a friends place who had a press and managed to press out and press in the new bearing.
Remember the new bearing has to go in the correct way as it has an integral magnet for the speed sensor.
also i suggest removing the lower control arm as the rear bushing can get damaged when you try and remove the lower ball joint.
Just loosen the rear bolt (as the sub-frame will need to be dropped to remove it) remove the front bolt and swing the arm out.
Penetrating oil will be your best friend here.
