Default Do the Gauge Clusters go bad X-Type?

I have a 2002 X-Type 2.5 and last week the speedometer stopped working then the temp gauge would read overheating, but the car was not overheating. Turning it on then off again will sometimes fix it. I have GM vehicle that had an RPM gauge problem and having the gauge cluster rebuilt fixed it. Does anyone know if Jags have similar issues or my problems go much deeper?

tribaljack, I would start with replacing your battery and seeing how things are then affected. An oddity about our cars is that the various electronics will start to act goofey right before the battery is about to fail. If you are worried about replacing the battery unnecessarily, have a load test done of the battery and see what the shop says.
