Default Do we need an Intelligent Battery Charger

I left the sidelights on the other day when putting X-Type in the Garage. A few days later the battery was flat of course. No problem, recharge and all ok again.

As I don't use the car every day maybe leaving it connected to an intelligent battery charger (like the CTek mxs 5.0) would be good idea to keep the battery trickle charged. Anyone else doing this?

I use one on my XK8 or I get all sorts of fault warnings as it is sensitive to any voltage drop.

I think you've answered your own question.

DO NOT use a regular 'trickle charger', that's a very different animal than a battery tender like a ctek.

Have bought a CTek MXS 5.0 and it came with a separate indicator with 3 leds. Good job I connected it, as the battery charge was showing as <60%. I know lead acid batteries loose a few percent every day, plus discharge from various circuits that are still on, alarm, etc. So if you don't use your X-Type regularly to recharge the battery, get a battery charger.

I have bought a pocket sized jump starter.( I hope it does not self ignite)
Much more convenient especially if you live on higher levels in a flat and have carry it up and down stairs.
Recharge from a USB supply anywhere ( in the office ?) or even in the car when it is running again.

Well pleased with a bargain price of £50 here in the UK.
Usual price £90
Says OK for petrol cars up to 3.0 litres.
