Default Does anyone know what protocol the 03 x-type uses for obd2?

Hey Guys,

I have an obd2 scan tool but i can't seem to get it to connect.

Does anyone know what protocol the 03 x uses? Is it ISO 14230, ISO 9142, or CAN?

Thanks,

George

I use a MAC tools ET105 code reader. It seems to work just fine I believe it is an OBD 2 protocol in the Jaguar.

Has anyone tried connecting one of the ODB-2 dataloggers to record all our engine parameters?

That's what I'm actually trying to do, but here is the catch.

There are 3 different approved communication protocols in the OBDII Protocol Suite.

ISO 14230, ISO 9142, and CAN

Most of the Euro cars are ISO9142 but are quickly converting to CAN bus. I'm trying to figure out which one the 03 X uses.

Some of the USB / Serial Interfaces Support all 3... but they are the most expensive. I'm trying to figure out which protocol I need so I can get the lower end USB interface that doesn't use all 3. After all there is no point in spending extra money for something I do not need.

I have an Actron OBDII code reader / scanner already, but at first I couldn't get it to work. I'm going to try again when I head home.

Take care,

George
