Door locking mystery
My X-Type has an annoying fault. In drive-away mode the left front door DOUBLE-locks. It also double-locks via the key fob or by locking the right front door without driving away..This means that the passenger in the left front seat cannot open the door and it must be unlocked by unlocking the right front door lock or with the key fob.
However if the left front door is locked manually via the lever before the car drives away, everything works perfectly i.e. all doors lock normally and each door can be opened from inside. (And so the passenger can exit the vehicle in an emergency).
This fault existed when I purchased the car (used) so I do not know whether it developed during its lifetime or whether it was there since new.
Does anyone know whether it is the actuator that needs to be replaced ? Thanks in advance.

Try spraying lubricant into door mechanism and then actuating it several times. The mechanisms tend to get a bunch of grime down inside them and start sticking. If that does not fix it, do a SEARCH here as the other possible causes have been discussed with solutions ad nauseam.
