Door lock module troubleshoot help needed
1.) Battery checked
2.) All fuses checked (both side of dashboard ends)
3.) Windows down so I can reach in to activate door handle
4.) Key Fob activates all other functions, e.g., Trunk Release, Lights
___________________________
USING KEY FOB w/ Both doors unlocked
FOB LOCK: Driver Side cycles four (4) times to LOCKED // Pass side remains UNLOCKED
FOB UNLOCK: Drivers Side UNLOCK w/ no cycling // Pass Side: UNCHANGED its already UNLOCKED
________________________________
USING KEY: Same as above
________________________________
USING INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES
PASS SIDE HANDLE OK
Reach in and LOCK Pass Side Door Handle: BOTH doors activate to LOCKED
Reach in and UNLOCK Pass Side Door Handle: BOTH doors activate to UNLOCKED
DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE FAIL
Reach in and LOCK Drivers Door Handle: Only Drivers Side LOCKED
Reach in UNLOCK Drivers Side Door Handle: Only Drivers Side UNLOCKED
Anomaly: if Drivers Side Door handle is ACTIVATED twice (x2) the DS module cycles four (4) times. Pass Side unaffected.
Same using Drivers Side KEY,
DISCUSSION
I’m thinking it’s the Pass Side Door Module. Maybe one of the micro switches. The cycling of the Drivers Side Door Lock Module makes me think it is trying to synch up with the Passenger Side Module. Does the Pass Side Door Lock Module cycle like the Drivers Side?
NOTE: I can lock Pass Side Interior Door Handle and in this configuration I can use the KEY FOB for everyday driving except for I have to manually unlock Pass Side Door for passenger entry (and they have to manually lock door for their safety).

Before pulling things apart I would spray both door locking mechanisms with WD40 and operate the doors several times by opening and closing then let it sit for a few hours and try the opening and closing and lock.
I found that the door latching mechanisms are often forgotten when it comes to lubrication. I will attach my findings on a door latch I worked on. At that time I also found that the switches can go out of adjustment and only requires a little tweaking.

Hi Gus. Thanks I already tried that a couple of days ago. Pretty certain I need the passenger side lock actuator, but want to confirm.
Q: Other than being left and right sided, the part is basically the same? Same number of switches, motor, etc. e.g., it should be cycling like the drivers side actuator?

Or the door actuator itself.
My bet is passenger door actuator/ solonoid

Both modules are the same.

Hi.
In addition to what is said above, I would open the connectors at the door hinge and spray with electrical cleaner, not WD40 here.
My next step would be to do the same at the door modules located inside the doors.
These cars are getting old, and many problems are attributed to poor electrical connections.
Always disconnect battery when working on electrics.
