Door linkage
Hi,
I thought that I posted this message yesterday but I do not see it so I am posting it again
The rear door on my 96 xj6 does not open from the outside. There is no tension at all on the door handle. I took the door panel off but with my aging eyesight, low light and my inability to see the other side of things I really can not make out what is wrong. I was hoping that someone has a picture/diagram of the linkage that I can view so I can figure this out.
Thank you,
Jomo

On mine, the RHF door lock push rod and the DUMB plastic joiner have female moments on a regular basis, and fiddling in there with arthritic fingers is FUN on a major scale.
NO room for 2 hands.
When it happens the handle has little feel to it.
The DUMB bit is #9 in the attached drawing, and #8 is the bit that goes inside #9 and works the works.
# 6 and #7 also have moments.
Hope that helps with understanding the thing, but I really suggest finding some half inteligent human with small nimble fingers to get in there and do the deed. I used the neighbours son, and he had it all connested in less than 20 seconds, cheapest Cheese Burger he ever earnt.
Good luck.

Just had a thought.
That drawing is the DRIVERS door, so #8 & 9 are the locking rods FROM the key barrel, and the rear door will not have that.
I reckon #6 and 7 are the issue and #5 is the rod that attaches TO the door handle lever.
NO room for 2 hands.
