Doesn't like mine:

"We are sorry, but no information could be found for the VIN/Registration number you entered"

Mine worked fine. I wonder what causes some to work and others not to.

Worked for my 04 where the dealer system rejects the vin number. There is a note on Fords page showing RECENT vin numbers, so there must be a cut off date.

It didn't show mine either, but I wasn't surprised. My Jaguar Heritage certificate says that the build date for my car is "Not Recorded". How can I expect Ford to know these things if Jaguar doesn't?

But thanks anyway to zidjan for making this site known. I'm sure it can help owners of newer Jags than mine.

Used it a few days ago to get basic info on 434Mhz's 96. I've not had a fail yet with either US or EU samples. Must just be lucky, I guess, although I've seen more than one instance where the reg. documents are wrong. Mine records a 'D' that is really a zero..

There's not much info on the early VINs, but becomes more informative from 1999 onwards.

Thanks for the link, very nice.

Mine say's it's a Series 25???

Lists a Leather Gear Shift knob which I don't have, also list "Less Anti-Spin Traction Control" this is strange as I do have traction control.

The FordEtis website data appears to be less detailed than Jaguar's Direct Dealer Warranty System data.

Using the VIN for my last 2005 XK8 4.2 S Coupe ( VIN SAJAC41P362A47779 ) as a test, FordEtis returns more generic results for the options level details.

Here's the Direct Dealer Warranty System data:

View your build sheet/ options in your XK8-03-specification-xk8-4.2s.jpg

View your build sheet/ options in your XK8-04-specification-xk8-4.2s.jpg

(click on the images to enlarge them)

Anyone can check this equivalent FordEtis output using my VIN.

View your build sheet/ options in your XK8-fordetis.jpg

FordEtis is a useful tool but I'd go with the Direct Dealer Warranty System printout where available.

Graham, Could you tell us where access to this Direct Dealer Warranty System is located? A www search just brings up all sorts of extended warranty companies. Is this something one can view outside the dealership?

Thanks,

John
