Default RE: Drag Races

Yeah I took it on the track....did a few street runs with it as well against the Mustang, Acura TL and a freakin Hyundai...and few other lesser cars....

Don't waste your time cause you will be walking away with your tail between your legs...

In all the races I have been in with the jag.....Every single one I take off the line...(the all whell drive has excellent grip) up to about 70+ then the opponent pulls away....the other down side is when on the highway...you're limited to 121 mph.....as the others pull away to about 130+ EVEN THE FREAKING Hyundai has a top speed of 145!!

I did a lot of mods to mine and am happy with the over-all performance...My jag can take just about any car from stop light to stop light...not exceeding the performance range over 70 mph...The trick is to keep the brake on, rev engine to about 2500 rpms and launch...excellent take-off from a stand still..like a rocket...So in the street race from light to light, I???m king...

On the track numbers are: 13.8/99 mph. (avarege after 3 runs) and that's with the mods I have done. Didn't take it on the track before I did all the work...

One of the reasons I was looking into the BMW M3. More performance options....something i didn't think was going to be a problem with the X-type....got my X type casue it was just so sexy...still is and I'm sure the BMW won't get the attention as the jag did...

Unfortunately, my BMW dream many have to wait for one more year. The Dealer won't even look at a jag now...and I don't want to take a lose on the jag...and getting bigger payments on a BMW. Anyway, so it's back on the drawing boards for the jag. I still feel I can "safely" get to the 300 HP (275 now) mark on the jag without damaging anything. And i would love to be able to disable that MPH limiter...I have a friend in the electronic business and we have a 03 instrument cluster that he will be working on to get the right wires and disable that annoying little hinderance..........More to come I suppose.

If you get a good launch (as i described) you should have no prob he has about about 215 hp comparied to your 227....is yours manual or Auto? If auto. shift manually, shifting as you hit the redline....you should be able to take him..

Only ever seen one Mustang over here in UK.He was behind me on a dual carriageway when I bought my X 18 months ago.I couldnt shake him off.We were heading towards an area I knew would be congested so I took a side road which took me to a roundabout at the start of a motorway 3 miles away.On the roundabout and as I was going passed a road coming onto the roundabout I saw the Mustang again which joined the traffic right behind me.He wasnt too chuffed I had got there first and once on the motorway and he kicked my butt like I was standing still[]
I later found out he had about twice the cc of mine[:@]
If I see him again I hope its on a snowy day to see if I can try and give his butt a good kicking.
What mods have you done racer82?
275bhp seems to be a good increase from standard!

Yeah, like I said the jag is great off the line...where the mustang will spins it's wheels...you'll be gone.....won't take that v-8 and 350hp to catch up to you in a hurry and leave you behind......just make sure nobody you know sees you cause they won't let you forget about it.... lol

Anyway, i have all the engine mods you can possibly get for now in the x type...ECU upgrade from Arden, polished runners from extrude-a-hone...3 inch Exhaust back from cats, k&N filter, bigger trans cooler, re-located battery in trunk, dropped suspension (Arden springs and shocks)...geez....what don't i have....

Still short of that extra 25hp i'm shooting for. I think next year when i redo my exhaust manifolds....that should bring me closer....

what about a dry nitrous system? they are very easy to install and would give you what you want.

A guy I used to work with had a mini with nitrous and he reckoned nitrous will find and break any weak parts of the engine/gearbox and he had to replace various engine parts...expensive if same is true of the X Type and I for one wouldnt like to risk it[&o]

The UK doesn't have this problem..only here in the US. Our top speed on the x type is 121 mph..

Took me a while to figure out how to disable it, few draw backs are: Instrument cluster is disabled, No heat or A/c engine won't start if you forget to re-connect it, and the check engine light stays on for three starts.

I still have to confirm it with a friend....his Mazda6 does 154, and we need to get out on the road sunday morning heading to Alantic city....nice straight road to make this happen.

I'll let you know and post my fixes and what not.

Hows your driving record? A 154 ticket in a 65 or 70 would probably be a nice sized ticket, eh?!!!!

At that speed in a 65 mph zone you're looking at a suspension and heavy court fees....

Always a good idea to have a "rabbit" way up ahead, with a CB...

(been doing it awhile, kinda know most of the tricks)
