Draining the fuel tank
12/09 2.1 V6 Aussie Spec Sedan.
My mobility is now almost at an end. The days of squirmong around to sort these things is gone mostly.
The above beast has about 25ltrs of stale fuel, MY fault, fair and square.
I need to drain the tank.
NO drain plug, Bugga.
Syphon hose want go all the way in, Is there a trick I am yet to learn??
Is there an access lid in the tank, if so, how is it accessed please. Under the rear seat I assume?
Currently have the fuel cap OFF and letting it evaporate, could be a wgile, ha.
I dont want to use the pump to drain it via the filter connection, just sits wrong with me.
I get about 1 hour of "work" time before I need to stop for the day.
Thanks in advance to any suggestions.

Hi Grant, sorry to hear about the mobility issues. The only openings in the tank are at the top so fuel has to go up. There is a lid in the tank for getting to the fuel pump and also an access plug in the body under the rear seat but the people who designed those things didn't talk to each other so they aren't in the same location. At least that is the case with my MY2005. Plenty of posts here in the forum about cutting out the floor under the rear seat to get to the fuel pump without dropping the tank (example) but you are looking at a lot of time with a shear or something cutting sheet metal.
If you are brave you can drill a hole in the tank and buy a compression fitting that will fill the hole after you have drained it. The metal bits from drilling will mostly get washed out when the fuel drains.
