Default droopy hood thing

my 05' X has a weird issue. the thing under the hood that is made out of fabric (or what ever it is made of. mabey cork or some ****? who knows) is hanging low in the center and rests on the top of the engine. it even has a little burn mark from sitting on the engine. so i guess i have two questions. first, does anyone else have this same issue. second, is it covered under warranty?

When I bought my 02 Xtwo and a halfmonths ago, I noticed the same burn mark on the hood liner that you mention.I guess it must have been loosebefore, but its secure now and not drooping.

My 04 had it as well. Most pictures I've seen of X-Type engines (other than new) have shown that little black spot on the intake indicating that the pad was rubbing on it. So, I think it's a common problem.

Anyway, I brought it to my dealers attention after I first purchased my X and they replaced it under warranty. The new one has almost 20,000 miles on it and doesn't show any signs of rubbing...yet.

Mine is the same way but it doesn't appear to be sagging - lol! That can't be good, I have to look at it a little closer.

If you have under 50K miles, it's covered under warranty. I would get it replaced. Secondly, it's a noise barrier, mutes the sound of the engine so it sounds nice an quite, and purrs like a little kitty. Finally, if it's hanging, like you said it is, your rear manifold is right there, which gets cherry hot, if the material gets in contact with this you are gonna be in big trouble. Ever see a car fire??? They are really cool.....very difficult to putout too once the rubber get to burning..... have fun!

it is also a heat shield. replace sagging ones, or you will eventually see paint issues on the hood.

I have under 50000 miles, but I have a 2003 jaguar x-type. Would i qualify for the replacement?

I just had mine replaced this afternoon - 05 X-type - dealer replaced it under factory warranty - I believe the jag Select should also cover it - I gathered it was quite common.

The hood pad on my 06 got droopy as well. The dealer indicated it was fireproof, and, not to worry until the replacement part came in. They replaced it under warranty with an improved version.
