Default Dropping my ride

I have a 2002 xtype sport, and i was thinking about dropping it.
Is it worth it?
Is is possible to just get springs and use my old shocks?
What would you guys recommend?

Default RE: Dropping my ride

Hi,
I have an 02 X-type 3.0 sport as well. Iused to ponder that same question but ultimately, I decided not to. The Sportsupposedly is built with stiffer springs and is lower than the non sport version by around an inch (I think, anyway). One of my pet peeves is having a big space between the top of the tire and and the fender. I think BMW has it right as you can barely fit your hand in there. So, I put 18's on the car and the wheel wells are filled nicely without lowering the car. If you do decide to go a little lower (like less than an inch), then in general, you probably shouldn't have to change shocks. You will have to get a 4 wheel alignment though.

I personally believe the X handles MUCH better than most people give it credit for. A friend of mine has a BMW 330i and he was blown away by how good my car handled. I would think that witheibachs, the X wouldkeep up quite easily in the handleing dept. with the best of them. If you decide to do it, please post some pics. I would love to see what it looks like.

Paul
