Yes, it was optional in some models, and probably not fitted to you car. As a matter of precision, there is no "x series"; there are XJ cars, XF cars, XK, XE, and yours, which is an X-Type.

It seems odd to me, in our 2006 X-Type VDP to not find DSC. I would have thought the VDP edition would have included it.

So would I. Maybe it did?

I've not tried this with an X-Type but worth a look with your VIN on
http://www.etis.ford.com/
in case it helps.

That's an interesting site! And.... No DSC shows up in the list of as built equipment. It's not a huge deal to me. I just find it odd that it's not included in the VDP package

Nope.... and I've got the coin slots where the DSC button would go. So apparently DSC was not part of the VDP package and was still optional even for the VDP

like Yardbird and despite the manual ....a coin slot!....and perhaps an invisible switch?

where exactly {if installed] would the switch be located?

(On the S-Type it's forward of the shift lever, below the touch screen.)

If you have DSC the switch would be where the coin slots are. It would have a red LED and a button with a skidding car icon. No hidden switch.
