Default DSCM Module

I have 2005 Jag x-type sport All Wheel Drive with 48000 miles. The DSC light came on and I took it to my jag dealer and this is what happend. I have replaced all ball joints. replaced abs leads. I am now told "checked dtc s and found one stored code in the abs control module u1900(can communications bus fault . Checked for bulletins pertaining to this issue and found jtbooo7 buletin instructs to install DSCM. DCSM will need to be replaced before further diagnostics are completed." Now they are telling me that will be about another 2000 bucks that MIGHT fix the car. Should I take the car to another jag dealer? I dont want to keep replaceing parts. ANY HELP PLEASE!! THANKS FOR READING>

wvjag, I would have them first check out the CAN bus system first. It can be any of the modules in the network causing this and it just happens that the computer has picked this unit to check first. The dealership should be able to provide a bit more diagnostics other than "well, lets buy this expensive module, swap it in and see if it fixes the problem". Sounds like a dealership that doesn't have an experienced staff that can do actual troubleshoooting. I would go to a second dealership or a quality Jaguar tech shop and see what they tell you. It is very possible that you will need a new module, but at the same time, I would be looking at a used module first as $2000 is a bit much for me to swallow for a "maybe".

WVJag, because of your year car, the car is actually still AWD, you just are not going to get any traction control. You will still have a 40/60 split in power between the front and rear.

I put the car in netural and shut it off and restarted it and the traction light goes off if I leave it set all night the light comes back on. The light stays off the unless I leave it set. If I restart it no matter how many times the lght does not come back on. ANE HELP. This is my first time using this type of forms. IT is great to know that there is help and you are not mercy of the dealer.
