Smile Due for tires

Well another summer has come and gone, and my cat's tires are starting to get a little wear on them. Since this is coming up on the first anniversay of my first Jaguar (November). I have a 2002 2.5 with 96000 miles, and she runs and drives like a dream I was wondering what kind of tires most of you guys and gals have on your cat. I have Continentals on there now. Now don't get me wrong, I've turned wrenchs for a living all my life. So I have a good idea what I like, that's what made me get my cat after all. But just wanted to know what everybody else thought about there tires. Thanks everyone for your input.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS - 225/40/18. Much better than OEM Conti's.

I've always had very good luck with Kuhmo Estca ASXs. Very good compromise of winter/summer/spirited/braking/price/longevity. I get usually 30k or so out of a set which is 5-6 years for me. Never had an issue with a flat or blowout with one, always stay in round. For 205/50r16s I think I paid around $300 right after the tariff was put on but I have heard tires have gone up another 20% since then. Though there are better tires out there for every catagory. I like the ASXs as they are solid in all, master of none.

I ran Pirelli P Zeros on my 2002 X type 2.5 and swore by them......fairly expensive so you really have to shop around but great longevity / great road holding in the dry, even more so in the wet......All good!

On my A6 at present its either Pirelli's/Bridgestones or Conti's for me and has been for years and around a million miles in over 20 years!
Just bought a new set of wheels that came wrapped in Khumo's which I've heard lots of good things about and will be trying, albeit nervously.

I have a set of goodyear RSA's on my X.. Much better then the stock conti's with much less road noise.

Well worth the money I spent on them from tire rack..

+1 Replaced my Michelin Pilot Sports with these DWSs. 5000K on them. Look like new and perform queitly very well wet and dry. Best deal was from Tire Rack. Suspect they will only be okay in the snow but that's what my snow tires are for.

Goodyear Assurance Tripletred 205/55/R16 (still have stock hubs). Kind of expensive but worth it. I notice better handling and reduced noise, but then again, my old tires were tired. They hold up very well in the snow and rain. I think these tires are great for day-to-day year round.

Default X-Tires

Personally, I like Michelins. They run quieter than most tires.

Well listened to all your comments, and I went out and did some shopping and researched a lot of tires. Finally, I went to Sears and bought a set of Hankook Ventus V4's. Good price, good warranty (50000, never seen a set of tires go that far), and Ultra-High performance all seasons, tire wear grade is a 420,and maxium certified speed in MPH (149). I get them put on Nov, 19th, there a good looking tire. Wish me luck, and I hope I made a good choice.

What do you think of your overseas made tires? Or Name brand? My wife has Komo's on here Subaru (which she loves) and they seem to get good milage and wear.

For anyone looking for a dedicated set (4) of winter-only tires that grip very well in the snow and ice at a reasonable price (only run them 4-5 months of the year) check out the Federal Himalaya WS2 tires.

What do you mean by overseas made tires. I guess you haven't looked at the labels too closely. Well over 80% of the tires in this country are made overseas mostly due to enviromental issues. Just like the standard old guard known brands far east manufactures sell lines of tires. Some are good at certain things like long life, others are good at things like grip. It is simply finding the proper compromise for your driving style, conditions and budget. I'm a fan of Kuhmo's as well, think my last 5 sets minus truck tires were Kuhmo's. Granted I didn't run Kuhmo's when I hillclimbed as the car liked Hoosiers more but some cars are faster with Kuhmo slicks then Hoosiers.

Well I've had the new tires on for 2 weeks now. I must say they don't make much noise at all, they grip the road very well, and at high speeds there very good at holding and taking corners. I like them, but the snow hasn't gotten here yet, so all of the road conditions haven't happen. My cat, even feels better driving on them.

I bought these last summer after reading about them here on this board. I have to say they are without a doubt the smoothest riding tires I've ever had and handle great in both rain and snow. I got one size up from standard X-Type tires. They don't rub unless I go into a parking lot straight on and fast, so they don't rub because I don't do that. I love them. Here's a link on the tires. I didn't get them online, I got them at my local tire dealer. They are Falken Ziex and I really like that they stay dark even after a couple of washes after I Armor All'd them where others fade out.

I got the same ones, all seasons, but 235 instead of 225. They are ok, not impressed but not disappointed either. If the Continental ExtremeContacts weren't on 2 month back order, I would have picked those up.
