I have a 2009 X type and one of the covers of me sill came loose and fell off. The garage wants a fortune to replace it but I have found a breakers yard which had one attached to an old X type but you have to take the part off yourself. Is it difficult to take of and put on?

Hope your restoration went well.

Many thanks, Robert McCairley

Hi Robert
You need to unscrew, pick out or drill out the plastic 'scrivets' (rivets with threads) running underneath the sill. From memory there are nine. Drilling is quicker but it presupposes you have a battery powered drill. Then just peel the sill away by pulling out horizontally. It is easier to start at one end rather than the middle. The sill is held in place by a series of white plastic clips and nearly all of these will need replacing. (cheap on eBay)
To refit, you clip the sill back into place horizontally, then replace the scrivets underneath. Job done
