I was having loads of problems starting because the EGR was stuck open, It happened a few times so I decided to delete the EGR altogether using a simulator. The EGR has to remain closed for the simulator to work. The connection for the EGR is disconnected and then connected to the simulator. The simulator is then connected to the MAF. When connected to a diagnostic computer, the EGR is working fine, even though it is totally disconnected.
