Hi all,

I have a 2002 X-type 2.5L and my engine malfunction light came on. Took it to Autozone and they gave me the codes P0301, P1313 & P1316.

I'm a little afraid to take it to the dealer because I've been unemployed since June and $$ is tiiiiigghht! Besides, I ended up with a $3000 repair the last time I took it in for an oil change. Can anyone help me figure out an inexpensive fix?

Are these absolutely-right-now necessary fixes or can they wait a bit? The car tends to shudder when the EM light blinks and the Cruise Not Available notice comes on at the same time. But when I'm coasting or at an idle, the EM light is solid and the Cruise notice goes off.

Help! I'm poor right now and not a techie!

 

P0301 = Misfire detected – cylinder 1
P1313 = Misfire rate catalyst damage – bank 1
P1316 = Misfire excess emission

I'm sure other people will chime in too, but I'd start with pulling your plugs, looking at their state and if necesary; replace them...


Possible causes (as per JTIS):

Cylinder compression low
Worn camshaft / broken valve spring(s)
Fuel delivery pressure (low / high)
Fuel injector(s) restricted / leaking
Fuel injector(s) continuously open
Fuel contamination
Fuel injector circuit fault(s)
(Injector DTCs also flagged)
Spark plug failure / fouled / incorrect gap
ECM to ignition coil primary circuit fault
(Cylinder misfire detected DTC also
flagged)
Ignition coil failure

 

I am getting the same exact codes P301 and P1313 (no P1316). I am also having the exact same symptoms. Any ideas guys? Thanks..

 

hi first time user, bought my first jaguar 2 days ago.was told the abs light comes on and goes off.was told he had replaced the pads and sensor but that i might just need bedding in.but today engine management light came on and wont go off.also when i put my foot on revs when stood still and try and hold it below 3000 revs it drops and goes back up repeatedley.what could it be

 

ive been back to it since parking up and now its cooled down it keeps the revs at all revs erm.

 

been out to it a few hours later and now revs hold steady at all revs speeds eerrmmm
