ok i have borrowed a code reader to read the codes and they are p1646 p1647 and p1000 can someone tell me wot i need to get to make these codes go away the abs light comes on some times and that it the drivers side rear sensor ive been told
so with the other codes where are the sensors located on the car so i can have a look at them so i can get the right ones for my jag
ive been told to have a look at the fuses number f38 and f42 to make sure there all ok so some one please help before it costs me a lot on money to put this right thanks

 

The error codes are for the left and right bank upper O2 sensors. You need to check the fuses because the sensors are heated and if the fuses are blown then they won't work. The sensors are located on the upper side closest to the engine of the catalytic convertor. If the fuses are good then you will need to replace the sensors.

 

Ok thanks are the sensors easy to fit and do you know the part number for them as I will need to get them both if the fuses are blown is this why the engine light is on also a still have no handbrake or park light on the dashboard so I'm thinking I might have to get another set of clocks for the car thanks

You need to first check the fuses and see if they are bad. If they are replace them and see if they stay working. If they do then the check engine light will clear itself in a few startups.
If the fuses are good then it is time for sensors. The front sensor is fairly accessible on the exhaust manifold. The rear one can be changed with out removing the intake manifold but it is much easier with the manifold off.
I don't understand the handbrake light. If you accidentally forget to release it a written message comes across the screen where the mileage is indicated.
There is as far as I know no indicator for park lights being on. There is an indicator for when the headlights are on.

Gary, your codes are saying that there is something wrong with both of your upstream O2 sensors. If these both came on at the same time, then I would be checking inside the engine bay fuse box at fuse F38 and F42 if your car is an 02 or 03. If you have an 05 or newer, then you need to be looking at fuses F20 and F21. If by chance you have an 04 car, you need to look in the driver's door jam for the month that the car was made. If it is on/before March 2004, then you need the 02/03 information. If it is after March 2004, then follow the 05 information. Lets start here and see what we come up with.
