Default Exterior temp not displayed

Hi all,

I have an xtype 2.0d from 2004. I've had it less than a year and have been enjoying it so far. Inevitably there have been a few niggles to sort out which I have been gradually working on. One niggle is that there's no display of the outside temperature on the LCD screen. I can see where it's supposed to be, but there's no black shapes appearing on the panel. The air-conditioning works ok which i understand needs the sender unit behind the bumper to work if it's to cool or warm the air appropriately, so I guess that's working ok. I've checked all likely fuses which seem ok too. Incidentally, the lighting for the clock/radio display is very dim, but could these problems be related? Any ideas anyone?
