Default Temperature Display on Heator Wrong

Hi Guys,

The temp that is displayed on the heater display, (non-nav) has gone nutz. Switching back and forth from F to C to F did not help. The other day when it was -2F out it showed 107F. What a swing! Always wrong by different amounts.

I know on some cars the temp shown is used by the computer to adjust the mixture. Is this true on our Jags? The is running fine.

Any idea on the sensor location and how to fix.

Thanks!!!

I am assuming you are pressing the external temp button. Yes it does make a difference in my XJ8 I could only get heat with the heat set to HIGH. The external temp said it was a 137 degrees outside and wanted to run the air conditioner in 30 degree weather.
Below is a view of where to find the sensor. I don't remember when I changed the one in my X-Type if I was able to reach thru the bumper or had to take the splash guard off. Thru the bumper I think.

Oh I see it now. I will swap it off my other car to see what it does.

Thanks

Larry, if your temp is bouncing all over the place, yet is a fairly accurate reading (ie, not pegged high or low), then odds are your problem is the sensor itself. If you have a wiring issue, it will tend to bounce to the max indications.
