Faulty reverse park control - X-Type SE V6 3.0L 4Dr Auto (June 2001)
Hi there,
Today, when I engaged the reversing gear on my X-Type SE V6 3.0L 4Dr Auto (June 2001), I heard the 3-second single tone, as per page 4-23 (Maintenance) of the Driver's Handbook in respect of the Reverse Park Control. That means that the system now has a fault (i.e. the audible proximity warning beep is no longer beeping).
I have never washed the car with a high pressure spray, but I have recently used a water brush attached to a water hose, and I have "water-brushed" the 4 reversing warning sensors when washing the car (making sure the sensors are kept free from dirt / ice / snow / grime).
Anyway, the reversing sensor does not beep anymore when an object is detected at the rear of the car when reversing.
Any thoughts at all, please? Any advice, please?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Alexandre,
You may have to get under the rear to uncouple the connectors, wipe and cleam them waith a swuirt of wd40, but first try this link

xande, like the link mentions, park your car against a curb or set the e-brake good and turn the key to RUN (do not start the engine). From there, put the shift lever in Reverse and then get out of the car and put your ear up next to each of the back up sensors. You should hear a high pitch squeal/chirp coming from the sensors. If you have one that is not chirping, that is your bad sensor. If none of them are chirping, then we have other issues. write me and I will assist however I can.
