AFTER INSTALLING 3 CD CHANGERS THAT FAILED AND STUCK, I HAVE THE 4TH INSTALLED AND SO FAR ITS WORKING GREAT.

KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED AS IT WORKS FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS.

BOY I HAVE LEARNED ALOT BY INSTALLING IT MYSELF.

Well done! I have a Kenwood 6CD changer in mine as retrofitted by the last owner and had no problems but I do remember having to strip the CD Changer down on my XJ because of exactly that issue, and removing the old grease and regreasing the mechanism it then worked fine right through till my V8 had a catrastrophic water loss :-(
It's only when you work on the parts of your car that you get that mental connection between you and it.. and it becomes more than just a car :-)

 

I took my changer out and sold it on eBay. I changed my cassette for a later CD player and installed a used ACM. My next project is Sirius. I have a little player that I'm going to sink into the ash tray cover, and use the power feed from the cigar lighter to power it. I'm planning on using the RCA jacks on the ACM to feed it to the radio.
