First oil change, first minor problem.
First off, I am not new to cars. I do all my own oil changes and have from when I was a kid helping my dad in the garage.
But I would like to see if I am the only one who's had this problem. I looked up my oil filter from a book in a Walmart type store (meijer) and bought filter ph3600. Tonight I pulled the current filter off, and it was shorter. That didn't worry me. Shops do put the wrong filters on if they fit (why I do my own oil changes). But the ph3600 I purchased did not fit, it was to long.
I figured that the place I got it messed the number up. So I ran to orielly's. But they only had filters the same size of the one I already had.
After lots of looking around, I called my wife and she gave me the number off the old one. COR3614tle. A Ford Focus 4cyl filter. I bought a wix one part number 51348.
Anything I missed? 2004 2.5 manual trans.

Hmmm, where did it hit? I run the PH3600 on mine; it has to be angled to get it in, but it fits.
I wonder if there are different cooler adapters? On the Ford, the filter goes right onto the block, but on my 2.5, there is an entire assembly that goes to the block and the filter goes on that.

Yeah PH3600 is the correct one, you want to be careful when putting it on to make sure you are lining it up correctly. I actually changed my oil last week and I for the life of me could not get the oil filter on, I had an extra one and that one wouldn't go on.. I was almost convinced that I bought the wrong one well...... I continued trying and I eventually got it on.. just never had that much trouble lining it up.
