Default FJT and Select Edition For the Win!

Well guys as you may have read I found out I had select edition the whole time I've owned my car and never even known (Yes I'm an idiot!) Thankfully the newly acquired help on here by the name of FactoryJagTech or as I say FJT informed me of this about a week ago now! I'm tremendously grateful for that one...

Anyways I went in for what I thought was a ball joint, door latch, oil pan leak and oil change. When I left the dealer he said the most I'd be charged is $55 bucks towards them having to take the car on the road and figure out whether the ball joint/control arm/wishbone was actually faulty or if it was something else. Other than that everything else was covered under SE.

I got a 2007 jaguar x-type as a rental that was free (except for that extra peace of mind in extra insurance which was like 18 bucks for the time I had the car out.)

I took it in on Monday at 7:30am was home by 8:20 and got a phone call in the afternoon letting me know they were finishing up my car and it would be ready in the morning. I got a call Tuesday at about 11am letting me know I could pick it up whenever and everything was fixed free of charge.

Well the sway bar link was the culprit and that was replaced as well as the door latch with linkage rod and the oil pan gasket was replaced and I also got a free oil change.

Before leaving I gave the my service guy a $15 subway gift card and told him thanks for helping me and this is to remember me next time! He was very appreciative as was I, in the end I was handing the keys to the rental guy and he told me to wait...a few minutes later he came out with a stuffed jaguar to give to my son! Which come to find out he has the same birthday as my son! Needless to say a good relationship with the service department at the local dealer has already started to blossom!

Needless to say my visit was very positive as was my attitude when I went in! Thanks again FJT!

Thats what I've always thought! Shoot I have a great reputation at the local autoparts store. The guys remember me over the phone and I've only went in there like 3-4 times ever...

For sure hats off to him! He has no idea how much i appreciate that!

I have to get my rusted hood looked at...Someone else is getting their car fixed for the rust...

As Aquill said JFT...........not unexpected![&:]

Sounds like you did some detective work there FJT to tell Aquill that he actually had SE all along. Not uncommon really, I had a Ford Mondeo that was bought 2nd hand a few years back and turned out it actually had extended warranty to 100,000 miles.......nice surprise

Good to hear that everythin worked out for ya Aquill...........save you quite a few bucks that will mate. How long do you have it for outta curiousity?

I meant to say regarding warranty issues.
I have checked my rear tyres on the A6 recently and found that the shoulder has more or less worn away, making them illegal. The rest of the bloody tyre has 4-5mm on it but down to around 1.6mm on the edges[&:]
As far as I'm concerned it must be a geometry / tracking problem from new. I have treated the car with love and respect and its 25k miles have been mostly motorway miles.

Anyway, I called Audi service and explained and then took it into them to check which they duly did for me. They informed that it was a tracking problem which obviously they would correct for me free of charge and also that they would contribute 75% towards the cost of a new set of tyres which would otherwise cost me approx £280 - £300 depending on what I bought.
Now aint that sweet?

As I have said before I always treat these guys with respect and remeber them at Xmas etc etc. Being nice to these guys really pays dividends.............Treat em like **** and guess what happens?!?!?

Car is in tomorrow for re alignement and 2 Pirreli P Zero's this time, not keen on the Contis.........lovely jubbly

Aq, you inspire me. Guess who's getting a gift basket w/ junk food for Valentines Day... or do you think that's too soon to be buttering up the service department?

Great story with a perfect outcome.

H20boy............think maybe valentimes might be a little odd time for thatunless its a really hot woman there, even that might raise a few eyebrows....lol

Seriously though......look after these guys. I usually drop in a maybe a bottle of wine and a tin of roses ( chocolates ) around Xmas time. if you've recently been in for a service and been pleased it wouldn't go amiss then either I guess.

Hey Aquil, I'm glad that you discovered the Select Edition. Can you please tell me how I can see if I possibly have that coverage? since I have 75,000 miles, is it a lost cause?
