FREE DPF exchange, 'DPF FULL'
Hi
Recently my 'DPF FULL' warning came up, so I did the thing of whizzing up and down the motorway but it made no difference, so I had a look underneath and the DPF is just a metal tube with a ceramic honeycomb held on by 4 nuts, 2 tubes and a sensor. So I whipped it of in 15 minutes and had a look.
I put an old pillow case over the end and started tapping it gently on a wall so as not to damage the bolts, you wouldn't believe the amount of soot which came out. Then I got a hose pipe with a squirty attachment and squirted down the exhaust end. Soot was coming out at an enormous rate and continued for about an hour until the water ran clear. I bolted it back into the exhaust and let her idle to dry out the ceramic for half an hour. That was about a month ago now and the 'DPF FULL' warning has not come back (Yet !!)
