Default (Fron) driveshaft removal on an X-type jaguar 2.0 diesell

Is there a special tool for removing the driveshafts from the gearbox on an X-type Jaguar 2.0 diesel? It's 2006 model. My partner has taken her X-type to a garage to have oil seals replaced which necessitated the removal of the O/S driveshaft. The garage has not been able to remove the driveshaft using the method described on line on the Jaguar forum (i.e. using hammer and punch and levers to drive the shaft out of the gear box). So far they have ruined one CV joint and several ball joints.

Btw, last link shows the "special Jaguar tool" as well as a follow-up answer of how it's utilized
